Where do I find my size?
It’s molded into the rubber on the side of the tire. You want three numbers — width, aspect, and rim.
Read it like this
A common size looks like P225/45R17. Ignore the P and the R. The three numbers are what we need.
- Width — 225 How wide the tire is, in millimeters. First number after the P.
- Aspect — 45 Sidewall height as a percent of the width. The number after the slash.
- Rim — 17 Wheel diameter in inches. The number after the R.
Where to look
- On the tire Walk around to the outside of a front or rear tire. The size is raised in the rubber, often near the rim.
- Driver-door sticker Open the driver’s door. The factory size is on a sticker on the jamb. Use the size that’s actually on the car if they differ.
